“Inspiration Tower” is your beacon to Branson! You can see this 230 foot tall iconic structure from miles away, making it a landmark on the Branson horizon. You’ll find the tower at the Shepherd of the Hills property, a fascinating complex filled with other attractions like the live, outdoor play; sightseeing tours; great food; and music shows. Not only is “Inspiration Tower” tall, it sits atop an Ozarks’ mountain making for the best views of the stunning countryside in all of Branson! It’s an amazingly safe and sturdy structure, built with more than 92,000 pounds of steel! The tower can withstand a constant wind of 172 miles per hour or wind gusts of up to 224 miles per hour. It also contains over 4,400 square feet of glass, enough to cover one third of a football field! “Inspiration Tower” was constructed in 1989 to mark the 100 year celebration of Harold Bell Wright’s first visit to the area. Wright wrote a best-selling novel about the tough Ozarks inhabitants he so admired, The Shepherd of the Hills. His story was so beloved; Hollywood was inspired to create several movies based on the novel, including one that featured everyone’s favorite cowboy actor, John Wayne, in the starring role.
If the awe-inspiring sight of “Inspiration Tower” isn’t enough, take the glass elevator to the top to a spacious, enclosed observation deck, or take a few steps down to an open-air deck for an incomparable panoramic view you’ll not find anywhere else in the area! The view is astonishing during any season of the year, with clear weather giving you a view that stretches for 90 miles! It’s even open year-round, so come experience the stunning fall foliage, the beautiful full trees of green in spring and summer, and don’t forget the holidays! At Christmas-time, the tower becomes the area’s biggest yuletide tree! And, there’s even more to explore at “Inspiration Tower;” on the ground floor, you’ll find a well-stocked gift shop, a snack bar, and convenient restrooms. There’s no other attraction in Branson quite like “Inspiration Tower;” make sure it’s on your Shepherd of the Hills’ itinerary for every visit!
