1884 - Old Matt built the original room off the cabin.

1889 - Old Matt built the mill, barn, and completed the cabin.

1896 - 1904 - Harold Bell Wright spent time visiting the area.

1907 - The Shepherd of the Hills novel was published.

1911 - J. K. Ross and his wife Anna (Old Matt and Aunt Mollie) moved to Garber, MO because tourists were bugging them.

1923 - Old Matt & Aunt Mollie died of natural causes and Young Matt sold the Homestead.

1926 - Lizzie McDaniel bought the Homesteads

1934 - Young Matt died in California as a result of a motorcycle accident.

1936 - Lizzie McDaniel moved her home from Springfield to the Homestead.

1944? - Sammy Lane died.

1946 - Dr. Bruce & Mary Trimble purchased the Homestead.

1960 - The first Shepherd of the Hills show was held with 435 folding lawn chairs. Capacity was gradually increased to 1650.

1975 - The first sound system was installed.

1976 - The theatre was increased to hold over 2500.

1985 - The Homestead was purchased by Mr. & Mrs. Gary Snadon.

1988 - Debut of the Clydesdales!

1989 - Construction was completed on Inspiration Tower.

1990 - 1901 Morgan County Church was relocated to the Homestead.

1992 - Addition of "City Kids & Country Cousins" playground.

1993 - Grand opening of the Precious Moments Animated Showcase Gallery.
