As "Aggregte Annie" dredges the area where the new bridge bridge will be at its lowest, coming in from the east, it illustrates how the view of the bridge from the downtown Branson Lakefront will change as the new bridge is built in front of it.
A Branson landmark view will begin to change in the very near future. The Lake Taneycomo Bridge spanning Lake Taneycomo between historic downtown Branson and Hollister has been a landmark ever since it was built in 1931.
The 1,086.7 foot long cement bridge, with its unique five-span open-spandrel arches, has been featured on postcards and has been a familiar sight to Branson visitors and locals alike for decades from the Lake Taneycomo lake front in Branson. That view is about to change as a new bridge is built immediately to the north (downstream side) of the current bridge.
The new bridge is part of $12.2 plus million dollar project that will result in the refurnishing of the current bridge and the new bridge. When the total project is completed the new bridge will connect with Branson Landing Boulevard providing more efficient access to and from Highway 248 and points north while the current bridge will provide the same access it does now to Highway 76 and downtown Branson.
As part of the project the current bridge will receive a new wider deck and be refurbished. It will remain open while the new bridge is being built and then closed for refurbishing. While it is being refurbished all traffic will be routed over the new bridge. The project is estimated to take a total of two years, one year for the new bridge and one year for the refurbishing of the old bridge.
