The 27th Infantry Regiment Historical Society, Inc. is hosting their 19th Annual Reunion at The Stone Castle Hotel & Conference Center in Branson, Missouri, August 25-28, 2010. The Wolfhounds, (part of) the 27th Infantry will be represented by LTC Daniel B. Wilson, Commander, 2nd Battalion and 15 active duty servicemen from Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.
LTC Wilson will be presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to SPC Adolph Rios, Jr. for his service as a combat medic carrying wounded soldiers through gunfire to safety. The posthumous award will be received by his compatriots who served with him in A Company, 1st Battalion, 27th Infantry in 1966. The active duty servicemen from the 27th Infantry are serving their third deployment to Iraq and Afghanistan and will be presenting Colors during the awards banquet ceremony on Saturday, August 28, 2010.
The Wolfhound regiment was formed in 1901 with its members serving in WW2 (Pacific), Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm, Iraq and Afghanistan. One of the most noted battles was the last Bayonet Charge in Korea led by Captain Lou Millet who received the Medal of Honor. For more information, please contact Ron Detmer, 417-335-3476.
