SILVER DOLLAR CITY TO HOST AMERICA'S LARGEST CHILDREN'S FESTIVAL

(Branson, Missouri) Bringing together two of the biggest names in children's entertainment, Silver Dollar City presents America's largest children's festival, the National Children's Festival, June 22 - August 18.

This world class event features two stars: Nickelodeon & LEGO. A Nickelodeon show created especially for Silver Dollar City is presented several times a day at the 750-seat Riverfront Playhouse. Bring the kids and come to play as the live, interactive show gets kids and their families into the exciting world of Nickelodeon.

One of the all-time favorite children's toys is used to create a fantasyland as the Frisco Freight Barn becomes the LEGO Toy Company's World of Pirates, with life-sized pirates and ships made of LEGO building blocks, bright colored exhibits, tables where kids can design and build their own structures, and ongoing contests and activities.

On the City square, see the worlds tallest hand-shoveled sand sculpture as it is created. Silver Dollar City has contacted the Guiness Book of World Records about this attempt to break the world's record with a 23-foot tall castle, built with 100 tons of sand in 100 hours. A U.S. champion sand sculptor will compete for the new record, and will share his techniques as children try their hands at sand castle building.

Championship Kid Cloggers, teams of award wining young cloggers, will kick up their heels on outdoor stages throughout the park. Also on stage is the Haygood Family, six brothers who play fiddle, sing and dance during their high-energy performances.

Top Dogs and Top Kids, a show featuring performing dogs and talented children, will play in the 1000-seat Opera House. Dogs of all types and sizes show off their skills and race through an obstacle course, often upstaging their human co-performers.

Professor Tinkerton's, an interactive play area in the Carousel Barn, features a show for children and exhibits such as the Sound Room, where stepping on floor tiles or pushing wall tiles produces all types of sounds from a gong to breaking glass. Here, children find that learning is fun as they pedal a cycle to power a light bulb and turn a wheel to guide a mechanical hand. Additionally, they can tell a story with puppets and dress up as a knight or queen - bringing the adventures of the world-traveling professor to life themselves.

The National Children's Festival will feature over 100 activities for kids, from crafts to science experiments!

These activities are in addition to 10 family rides ranging from the relaxing Silver Dollar Steam Train to the thrilling Thunderation, a runaway mine car roller coaster taking riders on an exciting ride over six acres, including a run through a double spiral and into a tunnel. For small children, a smaller-scale roller coaster, a balloon ride and a carousel are adjacent to Tom Sawyer's Landing, a multi-level play area. Ongoing entertainment and 100 demonstrating craftsmen are also features that have made Silver Dollar City popular for over 35 years.

The park, located near Branson, Missouri, is open daily during the festival, 9:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. For ticket information, call #800-952-6626.
