Water Sports in Branson, MO

In addition to the popular, and maybe more familiar, water sports like kayaking, and fishing, Branson offers water activities that range from long-standing adventures like scuba diving, to the latest in excitement on the water, like power boarding.

Diving the depths!

ScubaScuba diving may not be the first activity people think of when it comes to enjoying fresh water lakes, but it’s a readily available activity in most parts of Table Rock Lake. And maybe you didn’t know that Table Rock Lake is not only deep in many places, the beautiful and clear waters hide fascinating secrets! The small town of Oasis was abandoned in the 1950’s to make way for the damming of the White River, a massive project that created Table Rock Lake. Remnants of the picturesque village still lie far below the surface. And diving services around the lake will remind you to look for little treasures lost by boaters and other water sports enthusiasts over the years. Diving also lets you get up-close-personal with Table Rock’s aquatic creatures.

Personal water craft cruising!

Jet SkiUsually known by brand names like Jet Ski, Waverunner, and Sea-Doo, personal water craft are very popular and can be found tooling around the lake several months of the year. For visitors, these delightfully fun water toys are readily available for rent or sale in the greater Branson area. And for beginners, brief safety training courses are frequently offered by rental facilities and the organizations associated with the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers, the government agency that manages Table Rock Lake, its shoreline, and Table Rock Dam.

Glide in a kayak!

Kayaking is one of the best ways to get up-close-and-personal with our wonderful bodies of water! You’ll find kayak operations that provide service to Table Rock, Taneycomo, and Bull Shoals lakes. The river-like Lake Taneycomo provides an excellent kayaking experience for enjoying the scenery and fishing, especially trout fishing, and Table Rock is also ideal for fishing; it’s particularly famous for bass, and it’s perfect for sightseeing. For those unfamiliar with the sport, there is a difference between a canoe and a kayak; a kayak paddle has blades at both ends and your body is positioned differently in a kayak, which has bench seats and paddles with one blade.

Float your troubles away!

Canoe Speaking of canoes, there are many opportunities in the greater Ozarks’ area for canoe float trips, including adventures down the stunning Buffalo River in Arkansas. But you need not venture far to enjoy the water in a kayak or canoe, Branson is ready to help you experience the great Ozarks outdoors on your choice of three clean and stunningly beautiful lakes!

Stand on the water…on a paddleboard!

Paddleboarding Some area kayak rental operations also have paddleboards available. If you do enough sitting at the office or at your home computer, you might want to enjoy a lake adventure on your feet! It’s like a kinder, gentler form of surfing, and you have a paddle to help glide you along the water. Branson area lakes are perfect for paddleboarding, but you might want to avoid Lake Taneycomo for this sport…it’s great for fishing and sightseeing, but it’s a bit cold for a paddleboard; stick to Table Rock Lake or Bull Shoals Lake to avoid a chilly spill!

Feel futuristic on a flyboard!

FlyboardingFor an exhilarating lake adventure, you have to try the new sport of flyboarding! Many recreation areas around the country aren’t yet offering this exciting new sport, but it can be found on Branson’s Table Rock Lake. Invented a mere four years ago by a French watercraft enthusiast, this unique, powered device allows you to climb out of the water and into the air. Riders stand on a board connected by a lengthy hose to a watercraft. Water is forced under pressure to a pair of special boots with jet nozzles underneath. It’s an incredible thrill that’s still being discovered by water sports fanatics around the world, and you can experience it firsthand in Branson, Missouri! When you’re ready to spend a little exciting or relaxing time on the water, remember that Branson is well-prepared to make it happen!
