Spending Christmas in Branson is kind of like going through a Christmas stocking” filled with all sorts of treats and presents. Of course Branson is not a Christmas stocking, but as Paul Miller, General Manager of the Branson Tourism Center said, “From great food, shopping, attractions, shows and other exciting entertainment and activities, Branson’s Christmas stocking is filled to overflowing with fun for those spending part of their Christmas in Branson.”

Miller points out that although some Branson shows close their 2009 season around the middle of December many of its best shows will be available during the Christmas season. This includes, but is certainly not limited to, dinner attraction combinations such as “Dixie Stampede,” “Show Boat Branson Belle” and “Christmas on the Trail;” the beauty, grace and skill of the “Acrobats of China;” a variety of music shows including Branson’s original show, the “Baldknobbers,” the amazing “Pierce Arrow,” “Magnificent Variety,” “50’s at the Hop,” “Legends in Concert,” “Tony Roi’s Elvis Experience,” and “The Haygoods;” a variety of comedy shows including the comedic genius of “Jim Stafford,” “Comedy Jamboree,” and the White River Comedy Club;” the magnificent spectacle of “The Miracle of Christmas;” the magic of Kirby VanBurch; “Amazing Pets;” (Opening December 20) and many more.

“For those who love to shop,” he said, “Branson is a shoppers dream.” Miller continues, “Whether it’s the small specialty and gift shops of historic downtown or elsewhere in Branson such as the ‘IMAX Complex,’ the large variety of stores available at ‘Branson Landing’ or one of Branson’s major discount malls, a flea market or something as unique as ‘Dick’s 5 & 10,’ Branson will provide a great shopping experience for even the most dedicated shopper.”

“The majority of Branson’s major attractions will be open during the Christmas season,” Miller said. This includes most major attractions such as “Silver Dollar City;” the “Titanic,” Butterfly Palace,” “Hollywood Wax Museum” and “Ripley’s Believe It or Not” and many more, such as the “World’s Largest Toy Museum,” “Castle of Chaos,” “Dinosaur Museum” and “Haunted House.” “Two special Christmas events,” he said, “Silver Dollar City’s ‘Old Time Christmas’ and the Butterfly Palace’s ‘White Flight’ butterfly experience will continue throughout their Christmas season.”

He also points out that Branson’s two major drive-through lighting displays Shepherd of the Hill’s “Trail of Lights” and “The Branson Area Festival of Lights” will also be open during Christmas season. The “Adoration Nativity Scene,” on top of Mount Branson, with a nice view from either Branson Landing or historic downtown Branson, is a unique part of Branson’s Christmas traditions and will remain lighted throughout the entire Christmas season.

“And that just scratches the surface,” he emphasized. “When combined with indoor water parks such as “Castle Rock Water Park,” indoor golf at multiple locations like the “Grand Country Mini Golf and Arcade,” cruises on the “Branson Cruise Lines” and the myriad of other exciting entertainment choices Branson offers, it’s it hard to imagine a place within the driving distance of the majority of people in the Midwest, that could provide more fun during the Christmas season.”

Miller reminds visitor that although Branson “Christmas Season,” for all practical purposes runs through December 31, the availability of Branson shows and attractions will vary during the season. He suggests contacting Branson Tourism Center (BTC), one of Branson’s largest and most respected vacation planning services and sellers of Branson show and attraction tickets and lodging for the latest information and availability. BTC can be reached by calling 800-785-1550 or through its website www.BransonTourismCenter.com.
