As one would expect from the place dubbed the “live music show capital of the world,” Christmas in Branson during its celebration of Ozark Mountain Christmas is special. On line show and attraction schedules for Branson, such as those found at www.BransonTourismCenter.com, indicate Christmas shows and attractions for just about every interest.

With all the different things available in Branson, those looking for a unique Christmas entertainment experience don’t have to look far and there will be many choices. In fact, it could be said that the very way Branson strives to celebrate the true spirit of Christmas is unique in itself, but what if the question was asked, “What are the top three Branson Christmas activities are most likely to provide a unique Branson Christmas entertainment experience?”

The answer to that question is certainly subjective and could mean different things to different people. To this writer the three that come to mind because of their uniqueness are the Butterfly Palace & Rainforest Adventure’s “White Flight,” Silver Dollar City’s “Old Time Christmas,” and the production and spectacle of Sight & Sound’s “The Miracle of Christmas.” Taken individually they are unique, entertaining and inspiring, but when combined the result is an entertainment experience available nowhere else.

White Flight” is a unique Christmas exhibit made up of thousands of white butterflies flying in a rain forest sparkling with thousands of lights, living angel statutes, colorful white and red poinsettias and filled with the sounds of beautiful holiday music. “White Flight” is currently appearing for its third Christmas season in Branson at the Butterfly Palace & Rainforest Adventure for a limited engagement, through January 15, 2010. Sarah Bolend, General Manager, said the thousands of white butterflies used in “White Flight” are comprised of about 20 different species of tropical white butterflies.

Paul Miller, the general Manager for Branson Tourism Center, said, “Silver Dollar City’s ‘An Ole Time Christmas’ is one of the top ‘Ozark Mountain Christmas’ activities year after year. It is truly a one of a kind event with its spectacular lighting, rides, shows, food and friendly festive Christmas atmosphere.” He also points out that Silver Dollar City won the second place in the prestigious Golden Ticket Awards in the “Christmas Event” category, placing higher than either Disney’s “Magic Kingdom.” It also won first place the “Friendliest Park Staff” category and second place in the “Best Food” category.

Branson has many excellent shows and most of them celebrate the true traditional Christian spirit of Christmas as part of their show. There is one show however, that in terms of spectacle, production, and commitment to the true spirit of Christmas stands out, “The Miracle of Christmas” appearing at the Branson’s Sight & Sound Theatre.
As one review said, “’The “Miracle of Christmas’ is a musical drama with spectacular sets, action, excitement, music, live animals and dancing “conveying the spirit of the greatest miracle of all, ‘For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.’” It is presented on 20,000 square foot wrap around stage that is 300 feet long.

The Miracle of Christmas” has flying angels, soldiers riding horses down the aisles, animals, and wise men and shepherds at the manger honoring the Son of God after his birth. It is one of the most spectacular things most people will ever experience on a stage in terms of production, grandeur, entertainment, and sensory appeal. It is truly an amazing wonderful entertaining experience about what the celebration of Christmas really is all about.
