If the new Branson show, “The Legend of Kung Fu – Chun Yi” was competing in Kung Fu instead of being a show it would be a Level 10 (Judan) Black Belt which, this writer is told, is “way up there” in the world of Kung Fu. As he sat watching this show he was absolutely amazed at what was unfolding on the stage in front of him. Tammy Johnson, the Director of Operations for the Branson Tourism Center said, “This show is another illustration of the excitement and variety of the live shows Branson offers and how they are constantly evolving and changing to provide Branson visitors with exciting new entertainment experiences.”
From beginning to end “The Legend of Kung Fu – Chun Yi” is a colorful and spectacular production. The synergy resulting from the show’s story line, the artistic and skillful manner in which the cast performs, beautiful choreography, spectacular sets, costuming and action sequences coupled with the shows tie-in to the mystique, culture and heritage of China and Kung Fu results in a production the likes of which has never been seen on a Branson stage and should not be missed.
It is a simple yet complex story about a very young boy who is dropped off at the temple by his mother to apprentice as a monk and learn the art and culture of Kung Fu and his journey to manhood. As poignant as the story is, it is how it is told, through story, dance, Kung Fu and other activities by a cast of extremely talented and athletic entertainers, amid the pageantry, magnificent sets, music, and costuming, that make this show the extraordinary action packed exciting and spectacular production that it is.
How spectacular is it? Let’s let those who have posted to the Show Forum of www.1Branson.com about this show tell us in their own words. All posts are from August 15 on and are preceded by the screen name of the poster.
“Zach7777″ said, “My rowdy friends and I have just returned from the White House Theatre where the Legend of Kung Fu cast is now performing. What an amazingly beautiful and captivating performance. The talented cast leads the audience thru the story of a young boy as he strives to reach the sacred goal of enlightenment. Seven scenes lead the audience thru the story. The performers are all an extremely talented and disciplined group! If you have not seen this performance I would strongly encourage you to do so! Anna, the theatre manager welcomes the audience and talks with them a bit, she is friendly, charming and witty, putting the audience at ease as the performance prepares to open. … Folks this is a must see when you come to Branson.”
“Bels0902″ said, “We saw it yesterday and I agree it is a wonderful show! One of the Best I have seen in Branson.”
Seconded by “Lodgingbranson” who said, “I agree…we saw Legend of Kung Fu a couple months ago and I thought it was one of the best shows I have seen!”

“LakesGrandma” said, “This was one fantastic show! Beautiful and cast member were fun after show for my grandsons to get photos and autographs with. …We took grandsons and they sat so still throughout the entire show and I ended up loving it too.”
“Arkeygirls” asked, “Do you think a 7 year old boy would enjoy this show?” Zach7777 responded, “Absolutely.”
This writer agrees with LakeGrandma’s comment, ” This was one fantastic show!” and would echo the comment of “Zach7777,” who said, “Folks this is a must see when you come to Branson.”
