Final 2010 Series Central Pro-Am and Team Tournaments sizzle on Table Rock

Temperatures were not the only thing sizzling as the fishermen of the Central Pro-Am Association (CPAA) competed in the sixth and final Pro-Am and Team Tournaments. The tournament was held on Table Rock Lake August 21 and 22 out of Ahoy’s Boat Ramp in Kimberling City. The Pro-Am Tournament was held on August 21 and the Team Tournament on August 22. In spite of temperatures over 100  degrees and the more restrictive culling rules in place, hundreds of Table Rock Lake’s bass, weighing an averaging over 2.55 pounds each were caught, weighed in and released during the two days of tournaments.

Jim Thompson, the owner of the CPAA said that during July and August, because of the heat, the State of Missouri’s culling exception for catch and release tournaments does not apply. What that means is that fishermen cannot cull fish from their live well. For most tournament fishermen this impacts on their normal fishing strategy. At the weigh in, more than one fisherman said they wished they had kept some of the fish they released earlier in the day.

Although some fish were caught in shallow water, deep water fishing was the norm. Many fishermen reported fishing in the 35 to 40 foot area. The most mentioned baits were spoons, jigs and tubes.

The top three finishers in the Pro Division all had five fish limits with Mark Wiese, Jr. from High Ridge, MO wining the first place prize of $2,550 with a total of 17.09 pounds. Second place and $1,650 with 16.96 pounds went to Michael J. Smith, Harrison, AR and third place and $1,350 with 16.08 pounds went to Chris Hughes, Springfield, MO.

The top three finishers in the Amateur (Non Boater) Division all had three fish limits with Craig Dort, Rogersville, MO wining the first place prize of $1,550 with 10.24 pounds. Second place and $1,000 with 9.91 pounds went to Zach Robbins, Branson, MO and third place and $850 with 9.02 pounds went to Scott Stallings, Glencoe, OK.
