The variety of Christmas shows is remarkable. With favorite Christmas carols and hymns, along with holiday fun, Branson celebrates the true meaning of Christmas. Many shows are family affairs: the Presleys, Duttons, and Hughes Brothers shows all have three generations performing! The Lennon Sisters and the Osmonds take the stage again in the Andy Williams Christmas Extravaganza at the Andy Williams Performing Arts Center. New there this year is Hallmark’s Maxine’s Christmas Carol. At King’s Castle Theatre Christmas Wonderland is just one of four shows staged. Puttin’ on the Ritz, New Jersey Nights, and Dublin’s Irish Tenors and The Celtic Ladies all incorporate Christmas music and fun into the shows.

Christmas Shopping
Santa Shops in Branson

Christmas shopping turns from frantic to fun here. Crisp winter days are perfect for strolling the shops in Historic Downtown Branson. Be sure to check out Dick’s 5 & 10 – with roughly 250,000 items, there is truly something for everyone! Wander on down the hill to Branson Landing, on the banks of Lake Taneycomo. There are shops and restaurants along the boardwalk. If it’s a “sweater weather” day, you’ll enjoy dining on a terrace overlooking the lake to watch boats, ducks and geese, the occasional eagle. At Main Street Cruises, get on board for a sightseeing or dinner cruise. How about a New Year’s Eve cruise?

At the end of your day, before you head to a Christmas show, you’ll want to relax with dinner. Still at Branson Landing? Level 2 Steakhouse in the Hilton Branson Convention Center Hotel is an excellent choice. Down the road just off Hwy. 65, Dobyns Dining Room in The Keeter Center, College of the Ozarks, has an innovative menu, featuring many ingredients produced on campus. Ozarks favorites with a contemporary flair! Chateau on the Lake Resort & Spa has exceptional dining and an unparalleled view of Table Rock Lake. There are several options, including their Library Lounge. Relax by the huge stone fireplace or one of the other cozy conversation areas. Keep your eye on the clock and put on a wrap to step outside for a sunset you don’t want to miss!

A delectable dinner and fabulous show at Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede is fun for everyone, especially at Christmas, with the “Living Nativity” (complete with donkeys, sheep and camels!) and “Toys Come to Life.” Out at Silver Dollar City you’ll find Christmas shows, countless kinds of food, a luminous Holiday Light Parade, a five story special effects Christmas tree, and a multitude of shops.

All around town, the first annual Ozark Mountain Christmas Tree Competition will make this season sparkle more than ever. Other light displays include the Shepherd of the Hills Trail of Lights and Branson’s Gift of Lights. “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year” Parade is Nov. 19, 2016, honoring “Mr. Christmas” himself, the late Andy Williams. It’s 10 a.m. at Branson Landing. Branson’s 68th Annual Adoration Parade is Dec. 4, 2016, at dusk/5 p.m. and begins with the lighting of the largest area nativity scene.

Branson celebrates military veterans every day, and Branson’s Veterans Homecoming Week is our country’s largest Veterans celebration, Nov. 5-11. The opening ceremony for the Vietnam Memorial Wall is Nov. 7 at The Welk Resort. Other events include the 83rd Annual Branson Veterans Day Parade Nov. 11, 11 a.m. Get more information about special shows, reunions, etc., at

And the fun doesn’t stop after Christmas and New Year’s. Branson always offers good food and lodging, as well as some mild winter days, when you might get in a round of golf at one of Branson’s championship courses. If you’re staying at the Welk Resort and the day is colder, enjoy water fun in their Splash-A-Torium! Branson Titanic Museum Attraction, with its more than 20 fascinating galleries, is open all year long. Dixie Stampede begins its 2017 season February 24th.
