Brett Family Chocolate Trifle

Trifle_01

Spring time is upon us! Things are blooming and becoming fresh & new. This month’s submission comes to us from the Brett Family. This would be great to bring to the church’s Easter potluck or to make for a Summer picnic with family & friends.

Instructions
  1. Prepare brownie mix according to package directions and cool completely. Cut into 1 inch squares. (If using cake mix, which I prefer, bake in jelly roll pan)
  2. In a large bowl combine pudding mix, water, and sweetened condensed milk. Mix until smooth, then fold in 8 oz of cool whip until no streaks remain.
  3. In a trifle bowl, arrange in layers 1/2 of the brownies, 1/2 of the pudding mixtures and 1/2 of the 12 oz container of cool whip. Repeat those layers again with remaining brownie, pudding and cool whip. Shave the chocolate bar into curls with potato peeler and garnish the top. Refrigerate 8 hours before serving.
Recipe Notes

Note: For a lighter/spongier version of this, use a regular chocolate cake mix instead of brownies. Bake the cake in a large jellyroll pan so it is thin and can be easily cut into squares.
