It's all about how great singing got "Billy Joe," played by Matthew Lord (left), "Billy Billee," played by Blake Davidson and "Billy Bob," played by Steven Sanders from here...
BRANSON, Mo. Let there be no doubt about it, although the story line of the 3 Redneck Tenors is about the funny and entertaining adventures of three loveable Texas rednecks rising from obscurity in Paris, Texas, to performing in the opera in the big city, the heart and soul of this show is their powerful and beautiful vocals. Whether it’s a song like “Mr. Ed,” “Viva Las Vegas” or the classical “Nessun Dorma,” the show’s stars “Billy Bob,” played by Steven Sanders, “Billy Joe,” played by Matthew Lord and “Billy Billee,” played by Blake Davidson give a vocal performance that is anything, but “Redneck.”
Having said that, the show’s story line, starts with a redneck memorial service that adds new meaning to the term, “Chip off the old block.” From there, after their discovery by the “Colonel,” played by Dinny McGuire, it follows three redneck hillbillies on a metamorphic journey from redneck to opera stars. The trip is an exciting, fun filled “adventure” that is fast paced, filled with interesting sets, colorful costuming changes, wonderful humor and absolutely great vocals.
To this writer, perhaps the defining moment of where this journey will start and end, in terms of blending the redneck with the music, occurs “early on” during the memorial service held around the wood chipper. Their blending of “Dixie” and “Ave Maria” into a hauntingly beautiful song is a prophetic snapshot of what is ahead.
As would be expected, their singing is great no matter what they are singing. The range of the show’s music covers everything from the unique blending of “Dixie” and “Ave Maria” into one song, “The Impossible Dream,” “The Green Green Grass of Home,” “Viva Las Vegas, “the aria “Nessun Dorma” from Puccini’s opera “Turandot” and many more. The power and beauty of their voices combined with just the right amount of themed comedy and great arrangements results in a synergy that makes this show a unique, entertaining and memorable experience.
Beautiful singing is combined with humor and costuming to create an entertainment experience that is unique, beautiful, funny, and unforgettable. One example, of many throughout the show, would be their performance as the “Italian Tenors” singing “Ole Solo Mio,” in Italian followed by its English version, “It’s Now or Never.” Another would be their performance to save the “Rainbow Girls”, as the “3 Tenoretts” by singing the Debby Boone classic “You Light Up My Life.” The audience just cracked up.
If you love great vocals artfully combined with some family friendly redneck humor into a unique and powerful entertainment experience don’t miss the 3 Redneck Tenors.” For additional information or tickets for the 3 Redneck Tenors or any of Branson’s other shows and attractions or for lodging arrangements please contact the Branson Tourism Center (BTC), one of Branson’s largest and most respected vacation planning services.
